In order to deliver the MoD's submarine and warship support requirements, a significant programme of infrastructure investment is required at Devonport. The 'Major Infrastructure Projects' (MIP) Business Unit was established to deliver this.
A key part of MIP's workload is the development of defuel capability for out-of-service submarines. This work comprises a number of interrelated multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects at the Submarine Refit Complex (SRC). The 14 Dock Readiness project is therefore delivering upgrades to an existing dry dock that will be used for the submarine defuels. The SRC and dry dock are within a nuclear licensed site.
This post is for part of the team delivering updates to existing design substantiation dating back many years, as well as drawing together substantiation for the new infrastructure.
The primary purpose of the role is to support the Design and Project Managers in the delivery of project scope. Duties will involve the following:
Provision of delivery of Design Substantiation Reports (DSR) updates through the application of process, domain knowledge and experience.
Carry out analysis of existing concrete structures to ensure that they continue to meet specified safety functional requirements.
Provide Subject Matter Expert advice on civil/structural engineering matters.
