If you are looking to expand your nursing career options outside the NHS, and are:
1. A band 5 or recently registered Nurse, or
2. Set to register in 2024,
Why not explore a career as a Clinical Research Nurse? Make a direct impact on patient care by contributing to the development of new medical treatments.
Join Fortrea´s Clinical Development team at our state-of-the-art Phase 1 Clinic in Drapers Yard Leeds. Our 65,000 ft² 100+ beds clinic (7 minutes walking from the train station) is dedicated to Early Clinical research.
A career in Clinical Research as a Registered Nurse with Fortrea: from the hospital ward to the world.
As part of the Fortrea team, you will work with leading pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device companies at a vital stage of clinical development: determining the safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetics of new drugs. Your nursing skills will be crucial in ensuring the care and monitoring of participants during clinical trials and upholding the ethical conduct of the study.
This job allows you to maintain a close, face-to-face relationship with participants (healthy volunteers and patients) while practicing your clinical skills. You´ll also engage with cutting-edge medical technologies and witness the development of life-saving treatments firsthand. When a drug you´ve worked with is approved, you´ll know you´ve touched lives around the world.
ON A NORMAL DAY, YOU WILL...
Learn. And grow. No two days will be the same; and this is because you will be exposed to a wide variety of Therapeutic Indications and study types and designs (ascending dose, first-in-human, food effect, drug to drug interactions, etc.) And regardless of your projects, every day you will:
1. Provide high-quality nursing diagnosis and care, and use your clinical judgment to respond to emergencies.
2. Based on your nursing assessment skills, observe participant well-being. Act upon and document adverse events.
3. Obtain Informed Consent and educate participants about study procedures.
4. Administer investigational compounds, including parenteral medications.
5. Perform study related procedures such as cannulation, telemetry, holters, vital signs, ECGs, venipuncture and more.
6. Collect and process biological samples according to the study protocol and Standard Operating Procedures.
7. Record data promptly and accurately into electronic systems and Case Report Forms.
WHAT DO YOU BRING TO FORTREA?
1. NMC - registered nurse.
2. BLS Certified (ILS certification to be gained in the role).
3. A plus: previous experience with Electronic Data Capture tools and Veeva.
Previous Research Nurse experience is ideal, but not a must. We are open to consider recent graduates or any recent nursing experience. What´s important for us is you thrive in an environment that is:
1. Fast paced: where no deviations from the study protocol are allowed, and not meeting a timeline for even few minutes will create a quality issue.
2. Changing priorities constantly asking you to prioritize and adapt on the spot.
3. Teamwork and people skills are essential for the study to run smoothly.
4. Technology based. We collect our data directly into an electronic environment.
