Southlands School in Lymington, Hampshire is an ambitious, progressive and caring independent residential and day school for young people aged 7– 19 with a primary diagnosis of high-functioning ASD/Asperger’s. In November our school was rated “Good” in all areas by Ofsted.
This role includes:
Working 1:1 with a pupil, or with small groups of pupils, assisting with their learning across the curriculum for the whole school day. You will be calm, patient and consistent, but equally warm, nurturing and encouraging of all students and their interests. You may also be required to join in with activities at breaks and lunchtimes.
You are likely to have experience in the following:
Working with challenging, yet lovely, young people with a range of behaviours, difficulties and interests; working under the direction of teachers to deliver learning material, but also acting with initiative to help design a curriculum suited to the young person with whom you work. Existing TA/LSA qualifications, and/or good passes in English and Maths, are advantageous, though experience and personality are also key factors in appointing the right candidate. Experience of or an interest in outdoor learning, vocational or Forest School education is advantageous.
Hours and Salary -
38 week contract following Hampshire school holidays, Monday – Friday;
Full time, two different shift patterns available: 8.30am – 4.30pm each day, with a 4pm finish on a Friday OR 7.30am – 3.30pm Monday – Friday with a 3pm finish on a Friday, £11.44ph
