About the Role
We are seeking a Junior Engineer for major upstream, refinery, or petrochemical projects in domestic and international markets. This role will be based in Milton Keynes and/or London with potential for travel globally.
Hierarchically, the position reports to the Engineering Manager. Operationally, it reports to the Project Engineering Manager, Principal & Senior CIT Engineers. It does not directly supervise anyone.
Internally, the role involves interacting with Functional Managers and all engineering disciplines (such as Technology, Process, and Engineering Design), as well as all non-engineering disciplines (such as project controls, planning, procurement, and construction). Externally, there will be interactions with clients, subcontractors, vendors, partners, authorities, and licensors.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Work under explicit direction from CIT Engineering Team members.
2. Read and understand Engineering design drawings & documents.
3. Develop a basic understanding of the project scope of work.
4. Develop an understanding of corporate policies and standards.
5. Gather supporting documents and information as needed to support CIT engineering design/deliverable activities.
6. Develop a basic understanding of the CIT design scope of work.
7. Develop a basic understanding of vendor drawings.
8. Develop a basic understanding of discipline drawings.
9. Develop a basic understanding of other discipline roles and responsibilities (., Structural, Civil, Electrical, Controls, and Piping).
10. Develop knowledge of relevant codes and standards applicable to the project and equipment requirements (., ASME, ANSI, and OSHA regulations) in the execution of design as applicable.
11. Utilize 2D CAD software – AutoCAD and Microstation.
12. Produce CIT calculations using approved software and tools.
13. Produce CIT Deliverables using approved software and tools.
14. Adhere to defined CAD implementation procedures.
Typical Background and Experience Required:
Must have:
15. Experience in a mechanical engineering design company or other industrial settings.
16. HNC or Degree in a relevant engineering subject.
17. Effective communication skills include being tactful and articulate.
18. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Nice to have:
19. Membership of an appropriate engineering institution.
20. Experience in using 2D CAD software – AutoCAD and/or Microstation.
21. Experienced in the production of 3D models.
22. Site Experience.
23. UK Project Experience.
