The role
As a Marine Engineer Section Head, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary, working within the Support Business in the delivery of complex deep maintenance periods for the Royal Navy’s Landing ships.
Day-to-day, you’ll conduct maintenance on a wide range of systems and act as the point of contact for those systems, liaising with external and internal stakeholders to deliver or coordinate trials as appropriate.
1. Maintaining mechanical and electrical systems and equipment
2. Engaging with outgoing and incoming ships staff teams to accept and handover equipment
3. Operate and Set To Work equipment and systems within the section
4. Identifying and rectifying defects
5. Accepting equipment from contractors ensuring that all contracted work is complete to the required standard
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Essential experience of the Marine Engineer Section Head:
6. An experienced Marine Engineer with a track record of successful section management and delivering change.
7. An excellent communicator you will be comfortable with written and verbal communications with the ability to interact at all levels.
8. You will have a good understanding of systems engineering and be agile and adaptable.
9. High voltage or heavy electrical system section experience is desirable.
Qualifications for the Marine Engineer Section Head:
10. HNC qualified or equivalent in an engineering specialisation with significant demonstrable experience
