Join as a Reporter/Sub-editor, and you'll be responsible for breaking and developing news stories happening in the UK overnight, working daytime hours in Sydney, Australia to provide a constant flow of content across News, Sport and Entertainment. If you can write crisp, clean copy under pressure, turn your hand to any subject, sub-edit the content of others to spot the smallest mistake, and quickly learn any additional skills around video and picture editing, then this exciting role would be perfect for you!
To be successful you’ll need proven experience as a news journalist, and clear evidence that you are fast, flexible, accurate and committed. And if successful, you will have the satisfaction of providing a rich variety of content to PA’s high-profile customers across the UK, Ireland and beyond.

It sits at the heart of the PA Media Group which is now a portfolio of diversified news and information companies encompassing a large data division, the picture agency Alamy and the streaming service StreamAMG, among others.
What you’ll be doing.
1. Breaking and developing News stories across the wire, PA Now and PA Ready
2. Alerting UK-based staff to major breaking stories
3. Spotting and filling gaps in PA’s coverage
4. Writing Sport and Entertainment content as required
5. Subbing News/Sport/Entertainment content as required
6. Updating PA’s News and Sport social accounts
7. Monitor other media outlets and social media
8. Source images and other content from social media
9. Editing and transmitting images on the wire as required
10. Editing and publishing video to the portal as required
11. Updating schedules and diaries
12. Liaising with PA’s editorial customers overnight
What you’ll need.
Are you?
13. Trained to NCTJ level or equivalent?
14. Able to consistently produce accurate, reliable copy?
15. Able to deal confidently with customer enquiries?
Do you have?
16. Experience covering major stories across news, sports and entertainment?
17. A good knowledge of the UK and Ireland news agenda?
18. The ability to sub-edit copy to ensure it is tight, compelling and legally safe?

The work is predominantly home based, but any of the team may be asked to travel to cover a strong story in Australia or a neighbouring country if it relates to the UK or Ireland.
