Working and Training as a Dental Nurse
A dental nurse works side by side with the Dentist assisting them in a variety of NHS and Private dental procedures, ultimately making sure the patient care and experience is at its best.
As an Apprentice Dental Nurse, you will work in a supportive environment; we are passionate about building great teams who trust each other, work professionally, and take ownership for the success of the practice. This includes:
1. Assist the Dentist by providing chairside support ensuring that the correct equipment and materials are available
2. Provide support and assistance to a wide array of patients
3. Follow practice health and safety and infection control procedures
4. Keep the clinical areas and all equipment and instruments clean, tidy, and disinfected
5. Accurately complete patient clinical records
6. Complete all clinical daily, weekly, and monthly logs and checks
Roderick Dental Partners will support Apprentice Dental Nurses who have already signed up to or are working towards a Dental Nursing Qualification. For those who have not yet begun a course, we can assist in finding an Apprenticeship provider.
The Apprenticeship in Dental Nursing (Level 3) Qualification will include:
1. On the job training
2. Online learning
3. Face-to-Face training sessions
4. Completion of a record of experience
5. Written and Practical exams

2. Able to commit to a 12 month+ training programme
3. Comfortable working in a clinical environment
4. Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with your practice colleagues and a variety of patients
5. Excellent organisational skills to keep appointments to time
6. Compassionate
7. Excellent written communication skills
8. IT skills
9. A team player
Successful candidates must have their certificates to prove GCSE grade C/4+ in Maths and English or evidence of a passed Functional Skills course. Learners who do not have certificates can study for their Functional Skills course alongside their Apprenticeship.
