We have a great opportunity for a Mixed Veterinary Surgeon to join our genuine mixed practice.
This is a full-time role working 4 or 5 days, depending on your preference, with approximately one Saturday day shift per month required. Our mixed animal out of hours provision is currently at a rate of 1 in 5 weekends but will improve with two Veterinary Surgeons returning from maternity leave in Spring 2022.
The role includes a mixture of small animal consulting and operating days, as well as farm/small holder work, including cattle (dairy and beef), sheep, and some equine.
We provide services to a variety of traditional beef and sheep farms, small holders, as well as larger dairy units requiring high-level preventative health and fertility visits, with no routine TB testing. We have an excellent range of equipment to support high-level diagnostics and treatment options, including digital x-ray, dental x-ray, large animal x-ray, endoscopy, a full lab on both sites, small and large animal ultrasound, orthopaedics, and K-laser.
Our team consists of 11 full-time and part-time Veterinary Surgeons, 11 Veterinary Nurses, 4 Veterinary Nursing support staff, and 12 Support Team members. We have two certificate holders in small animal surgery and medicine. A new mixed-animal team member will be mentored by members of our small animal and farm team, with help always available to facilitate learning and gaining experience. There will be set days for companion and large animal work, although this will need to remain flexible depending on the daily needs of the practice. Ample opportunities to develop your interests are available, with CPD and further qualifications greatly encouraged.
