First Light is a charity supporting people in Cornwall, Devon, Wiltshire and across England and Wales who have been affected by domestic abuse and sexual violence. We are independent of statutory agencies, including the Police, and every year we help thousands of adults and children in England and Wales to lead safer lives, free from violence and abuse.
This is an exciting opportunity to join our support coordinator team who support clients whilst they are either awaiting an Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) or they require support outside the criminal justice system.
Salary: £24,467 increasing to £24,853 on completion of probation
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Holiday: 25 days annual holiday entitlement increasing to 30 days after 5 years’ service per annum plus bank holidays.
Base: Swindon & Wiltshire SARC, Swindon
Contract: Fixed term until 30th November 2025

Key responsibilities:
* Support recent or non-recent survivors of rape or sexual abuse who wish to access the Swindon and Wiltshire ISVA (Independent Sexual Violence Advisor) service
* Support the delivery of the Trauma Stabilisation Programme for all clients who are within and outside of the Criminal Justice process seeking support
* Maintain survivor engagement for adults and children in the Criminal Justice System process until the client is allocated ISVA
* Maintain effective communication between Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) and ISVA services
* Ensure that the victim feels supported, listened to and believed
* Support the safety planning, monitor risk (including escalation to high risk and safeguarding concerns)
* Provide the continuity of support to all victims who have not been assigned a front-line support worker
* Manage and review own case load ensuring the service is user centred, cost effective, efficient and responsive to the needs of clients and professionals
Essential requirements:
* Literacy skills and experience working with databases
* Evidence of IT and Computer Literacy Skills
* Act with integrity and respect when working with all clients, agencies and individuals
* Understanding the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of sexual abuse and their children
* Understand safeguarding issues (children and vulnerable adults) and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues.
