Activities of the team/department that this role will operate in:
1. Inspection and prioritisation of highway defects.
Purpose of the role and your responsibilities:
1. Highway Safety Inspections as required by S58 of the Highways Act.
Formal qualifications required:
1. The ideal candidate will hold:
2. City & Guilds 6033 Scheme – Highway Safety Inspection Award or similar accreditation.
3. NRSWA – accredited (Supervisor).
4. Full Training will be given.
Skills required:
1. Good standard of English required.
2. Ability to forward plan and see the bigger picture.
3. High level of IT skills required across various platforms: CONFIRM, MS OFFICE esp. Excel (understanding of advanced features advantageous).
4. Competent in computer and tablet use.
Experience required:
1. Experience and proficiency in identification and risk assessment of defects to be categorized for appropriate interventions.
2. Experience of working within the Highways Industry.
Knowledge:
1. Having a good understanding of operational delivery within the TMC/Civil Engineering sector with awareness in safety, quality and environmental issues.
2. Understanding of construction methodologies with firm grasp of H&S compliance.
3. Understanding of operational H&S responsibilities.
Personal qualities:
1. An ability to work to a schedule of tight deadlines.
2. Flexible approach to support the wider team as workload dictates.
3. Highly organised.
4. Attention to detail.
5. Adaptable attitude to workflow with ability to prioritise and reactively reorganise works when required.
6. Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing.
7. Proven ability to work in a small team and be prepared to pitch in when required.
