PRIMARY FUNCTION
The Manufacturing Engineer will be the main point of contact for all manufacturing technical troubleshooting. This role involves close collaboration with design teams to optimise product performance and manufacturability while maintaining high quality and efficiency in production. Developing efficient manufacturing processes, implementing continuous improvement initiatives and troubleshooting any production issues using initiative in achieving department and business objectives.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Primary point of contact for manufacturing troubleshooting.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve the design and manufacturability of products.
3. Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshooting of production issues, ensuring production simplification and cost, waste reduction.
4. Focus on product improvements and changes, working closely with the shop floor and Engineering to bring rapid results.
5. Support validation and testing of new designs or design improvements, ensuring performance and reliability.
6. Lead continuous improvement efforts to enhance production efficiency and product quality.
7. Improve production efficiencies and maintain the product (and information) flow throughout the organisation.
8. Analyse build data – Review shop floor build data. Identify problem areas and issues. Investigate and make recommendations for improvement.
9. Assist in the design of fixturing, tooling and handling equipment.
10. Keep up to date with current manufacturing processes and maintain a good working knowledge of all product lines (Pumps, PDU’s and options).
11. Support the creation, review, and maintenance of work instructions (Standard Works). Work with Shop floor Supervisor to ensure correct processes are documented, updated, and adhered to.
12. Communicate with Engineering and Suppliers to identify opportunities for quality and productivity improvements.
13. Assist in developing production processes, tooling, and procedures for smooth introduction to assembly line.
14. Manage and issue supplier concession requests. Work with Engineering to determine acceptance and maintain records for reference.
15. Ensure all rejected purchase parts are correctly recorded on NCR’s – responsibility for creating NCR’s is shared with the persons reporting the issue.
16. Investigate quality issues – Internal Issues and CAR (Corrective Action Review).
17. Assist in management of buildings and facilities as required.
18. Any other duties as needed/required.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
1. HNC from an accredited college or university.
2. Minimum of two years of experience in product design, fluid flow, rotating equipment, leading projects.
3. Use of 3D modeling software (Solid Works).
4. Use of inspection equipment (CMM, Vernier and Micrometers).
5. Use of Microsoft Office, JDE systems or similar.

WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:
1. Controlled environments – knowledge of controlled environment testing depending on industry application.
2. Working with manufacturing equipment, tools and machinery.
3. Compliance with health and safety protocols.
4. Collaborative office space – design reviews, process documentation may require working in an office setting.
5. Physical requirements- this role may involve standing for periods of time, inspecting equipment and handling materials. Occasional lifting and bending.
