Job Description
The Project Officer is responsible for the delivery of a series of 'taster' sessions in soccer, volleyball, taekwondo, and boxercise for culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) women and girls, ensuring strong community outreach, participant engagement, and the logistical success of these sessions.
Responsibilities
1. Plan and implement a series of 'taster' sessions in sports such as soccer, volleyball, taekwondo, and boxercise for CaLD women and girls, delivered by qualified trainers.
2. Coordinate participant recruitment through ARA’s Case Managers and community networks.
3. Manage session logistics: secure venues, schedule events, and ensure access to necessary equipment.
4. Foster an inclusive environment, addressing any cultural or religious concerns of participants.
5. Track and report on key program metrics, including attendance, club memberships, and participant feedback.
6. Conduct pre- and post-program surveys to measure participant wellbeing, fitness, and sense of belonging.
7. Contribute to program evaluation and reporting for the Department of Health and Aged Care.
8. Advocate for inclusive sports practices in local clubs and communities.
9. Support participants pursuing coaching, refereeing, or sports-related qualifications.
10. Promote the long-term retention and involvement of CaLD women and girls in sport.
Stakeholder Engagement
1. Collaborate with local sports clubs and community organisations to ensure inclusive practices.
2. Collaborate with internal ARA staff, community leaders, schools, local council, and other networks.
3. Engage high-profile CaLD sportswomen to participate in program activities, such as motivational talks and workshops.
4. Build and maintain partnerships with community groups, sports clubs, and trainers.
Desired Skills and Experience
Qualifications:
1. A relevant tertiary degree or suitable experience relevant to the position.
2. Current full Australian Driver’s licence.
Experience & Knowledge:
1. Experience in program management, ideally in community development or sport.
2. Strong understanding of barriers facing CaLD women and girls in accessing sports.
3. Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including community groups and sports clubs.
4. Experience in participant outreach and recruitment within CaLD communities.
5. Familiarity with program monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
6. Ability to advocate for diversity and inclusion in sports.
7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Special Requirements
The successful candidate will frequently be required to work after hours, including after school, early evening, and on Saturdays to carry out their duties and engage in after-hours sports activities, between the hours of 8am and 8pm.
