This list of duties and responsibilities represents the broad range of tasks which may be required to be undertaken either routinely or periodically. This list is not exhaustive, and the role may include additional duties which are not listed here. To fulfil the role of Safeguarding Coordinator for Cumbria Health.
Responsibilities:
1. Provide professional advice and guidance to all Cumbria Health employees.
2. Ensure all Cumbria Health staff have access to safeguarding training and supervision appropriate to their role.
3. Advise and inform the Executives, Senior Managers, and Practitioners regarding safeguarding issues.
4. Promote multidisciplinary/multi-agency working and advice to other non-medical health professionals.
5. Provide balanced advice and support on all aspects of safeguarding to CH employees where matters are highly complex and in difficult, sensitive, and emotive situations.
6. Provide constructive feedback and challenge where required to CH staff to aid education and awareness in safeguarding cases.
7. Support safeguarding practice leads to fulfil their role and provide expertise in difficult and complex safeguarding cases.
8. Proactively look for ways to improve safeguarding practice as an organisation and in individuals.
9. Share learning from CH and national cases.
10. Facilitate case discussion to aid learning across teams.
11. Provide monthly CH newsletter safeguarding articles, promoting local and national safeguarding priorities.
12. Keep the safeguarding staff web page current with safeguarding guidance.
13. Have the ability to write an independent management plan as a result of a serious case review.
14. Work collaboratively with the designated professionals from relevant agencies.
15. Ensure that robust systems are in place to ensure effective, timely communication between staff within CH as well as other health providers locally, regionally, and nationally with regard to sharing information to safeguard.
16. Attend safeguarding conferences, core groups, and other meetings for the purpose of safeguarding.
