We are looking for a Learning Support Assistant to support in a Special setting supporting primary aged children in the heart of Leeds. We're looking for a candidate who is brave, curious, solution-driven and a model hope to the schools' children at all times. The role of Learning Support in this school is to build strong relationships with children and young people, and the resilience to handle challenging behaviour effectively and to support the holistic learning needs of students to assist staff in delivering the school’s curriculum and have responsibility for the learning and care needs of allocated individual students across the whole school environment.
The ideal candidate will be:
* Have an understanding of Social, Emotional and Mental Health and the children who experience these difficulties and have a willingness to learn and adapt teaching and supporting styles
* Team Teach Trained
* Be patient, resilient and empathetic to students’ individual needs
* Experience of working with children and young adults as either a Youth Worker, Residential Support Worker, a Sports Coach or within an education setting would be advantageous
* People with lived experience are also welcomed and encouraged to apply
* Interest in wider alternative curriculum areas which might enhance students learning opportunities
