Job Description
We are currently seeking a Systems Engineer with extensive experience in System Integration and Verification to join our team within Collins Aerospace Electronic Controls and Motor Systems, Solihull.
This is a senior role within a team of highly motivated, skilled and experienced individuals working in a flexible engineering environment, whose primary activities relate to Electric Propulsion Units (motor drive systems for Hybrid Electric Engines).
The engineer will primarily lead the system integration and verification for Hybrid Electric Propulsion Systems. This role will include definition of verification strategy, writing of verification plans and test procedures, liaison with areas and organizations responsible for test equipment and test execution and consolidation of verification documentation.
Key Responsibilities
1. System Integration Planning Review of system architecture and definition of Integration strategyDefine and document the test requirementsOwn complete integration planProvide input to project planning in terms steps, effort and schedule
2. Integration Test Setup Create instrumentation list based on expected testingOwn test equipment and instrumentation equipment BOMOwn design and specification for required ancillary test equipment’s (junction boxes, harnesses, connectors etc)Liaise with ext. suppliers and/or other departments for design / procurement of ancillary test equipment’s
3. Integration Execution Manage / Supervise/Execute system integration along with HW/FW/SW teamsRecord data and write integration reportsOwn and manage system integration problem reports
4. System Verification Planning Work with systems lead engineer to define requirements means of compliancePopulate requirements database with verification attributesDefine and manage verification plan
5. System Verification Tests Write test proceduresLead test readiness reviewExecute dry and formal runsDocument and analyse results and write reports
6. System Verification Evidence Review all verification evidence against requirement and defined means of compliancePopulate and trace verification evidence to requirements databaseSupport consolidation of system declaration of performance

Essential Skills and Experience
8. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
9. Relevant verification experience in motor drive systems, preferably in aerospace.
10. Good understanding of systems engineering technical processes.
11. Working in configuration controlled environment (problem reporting, change requests)
12. Experience with requirements definition and requirements management in IBM DOORS.
13. Proactive, high-energy, and positive attitude.
14. Ability to work autonomously with limited oversight.
15. Strong problem-solving skills, able to tackle difficult and complex issues.
16. Effective communicator with internal and external stakeholders.
17. Practical knowledge of project management and ability to manage small projects or processes.
18. Good communication and IT skills
Desired Skills and Experience
19. Experience with system modelling and use of modelling for early integration.
20. Knowledge of ARP4754A, ARP4761 and experience with related processes.
21. Knowledge of DO-160 and DO-254.
22. Basic knowledge of a modern high-level programming language.
23. Ability to work on own (and part of team) to identify and drive departmental improvements.
