ABOUT THE ROLE
As a qualified Environmental Health Officer, you will play a key role within the Council’s Residential team, in the delivery of an effective and professional service to Stevenage residents. The work of this post will be varied and will include investigating complaints of noise and other statutory nuisances relating to residential premises, the use of statutory powers relating to public health protection and pest control, the enforcement of private sector housing standards including the regulation of HMOs and taking action to bring empty homes back into use.
This role will involve hybrid working, with part of your time being office-based in addition to working from home.
ABOUT YOU
You will be a qualified Environmental Health Practitioner, registered with the EHRB or CIEH. In addition, you will:
1. Have experience of enforcing Environmental Health legislation, including carrying out compliance inspections, gathering evidence, preparing statutory notices, schedules and specifications and taking legal proceedings.
2. Be able to work effectively with a variety of agencies and stakeholders.
3. Have the ability to accurately collate information and to produce and present concise reports with clear recommendations.
4. Be able to effectively apply your knowledge, skills and experience to independently manage a caseload of complaint investigations and routine compliance inspections.
