About Imerys British Lithium Imerys British Lithium (‘IBL’) represents a pioneering collaboration between Imerys and British Lithium, aimed at leading the charge in Europe's commercial production of battery-grade lithium carbonate. This partnership leverages British Lithium's innovative approach to sustainable mineral extraction and Imerys' extensive experience in mineral solutions. Together, they are set to significantly influence the UK's and Europe's transition to renewable energy, playing a key role in achieving climate change objectives and developing the regional electrical vehicle value chain. The Role Imerys British Lithium is conducting a pre-feasibility study for a £1bn project to develop a mine, concentration, and conversion plants for producing lithium carbonate from granite ore. The Continuous Pilot Plant, costing £10-20m, will replicate the lithium extraction process on a 1/1000 scale of the commercial plant to confirm the process design. In this newly created role, the Continuous Pilot Plant Project Manager will report to the Industrial Plant Project Manager and oversee the engineering design and execution of the pilot project, from conceptual design through to commissioning. Key Responsibilities Include: Deliver the project within scope, budget, and quality, with a strong focus on safety. Develop CER (capex expenditure request) dossiers according to Imerys protocols and engineering standards. Define project execution strategy and contracts with external engineering companies, in close coordination with the Purchasing team. Lead the tendering process for selecting contractors and purchasing main equipment, in collaboration with purchasing. Monitor engineering developments, ensuring compliance with established procedures and protocols, and providing engineering expertise when needed. The Person The is an exciting role that will suit a proven project manager with a track record of delivering large scale industrial projects (£10-£30m). The ideal candidate should have: Significant expertise in managing medium to large industrial projects, particularly in chemical, mining or heavy process industries. A steadfast commitment to safety. Experience in managing Greenfield (new projects) and/or Brownfield (upgrades or modifications) projects. Knowledgeable in CDM regulations, international engineering contracts, procurement, and construction management. Excellent communication skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to operate in international and multicultural settings. Location and Package This role is based in Cornwall and requires occasional business travel.
