5. Based at a secondary alternative provision catering for young people that struggle within mainstream settings.
Role Overview:
As a Behaviour Mentor at this secondary alternative provision school in Stockport you will play a vital role in supporting teaching and learning but also emotional and mental health needs. This Secondary Pupil Referral Unit specialises in catering for children who may face challenges related to social, emotional or mental health difficulties and vulnerable backgrounds. Your responsibilities will include:
6. Providing support on a one-to-one basis or in small groups
7. Assisting students with literacy, numeracy, and general subject knowledge
8. Supporting individuals with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties
9. Assisting those with mental health needs and anxiety
10. Provide holistic support based around social, emotional, behavioural, physical, mental & academic progress.
11. Collaborating with the SEN team, senior leaders, heads of departments, parents and carers, social workers, and other professionals in the child's multidisciplinary team
School:
You will have the opportunity to work within a successful Secondary PRU catering for children aged 11-16 with strong links to the community and other schools in the borough. The PRU is easily located by car, bus on train in central Stockport, near the town hall.
Requirements:
To succeed in this Behaviour Mentor role, you should:
12. Have the legal right to work in the UK
13. Provide a CV with a full history
14. Have a DBS on the Update Service or be prepared to get a new one
15. Min of two professional reference checks
16. Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable)
17. Some experience supporting teenagers or young adults with challenging behaviour or mental health needs.
18. Candidates with experience as a Secondary Teaching Assistant, Youth Worker, Residential Support Worker, Sports Coach, Pastoral Support Worker, Learning Support Assistant or other role within Alternative Provision would be ideal for this role.
