JobSummary:
ThePrincipal Auditor will support the Head of Assurance and AuditManager in the delivery of the Internal Audit and Counter FraudPlans.
ThePrincipal Auditor will deliver their own varied portfolio of workwhich in addition to audit reviews may include proactive fraudinvestigations contract reviews and projectmanagement.
KeyDuties(Sample):
The PrincipalAuditor will assist the Head of Assurance and Audit Manager inproviding assurance on the effectiveness of the Council s systemsof internal control risk management and governanceprocesses.
The PrincipalAuditor will work closely with senior management to agreeimprovements to the ways in which the Counciloperates.
The PrincipalAuditor will research plan and prepare draft terms of reference inrespect of audit assignments for approval by the Audit Manager orHead of Assurance.
The PrincipalAuditor will plan audit work so that it is conducted efficientlyandeffectively.
The PrincipalAuditor will undertake follow up reviews of audits with limitedassurance auditopinion.
Giveconsideration to the risks identified by Services and work inconjunction with the management team to ensure that the controlsadequately address the risks establishing whether they are workingeffectively.
Analyticalskills with the ability to undertake data analysis and datamining.
Develop andencourage clear channels of twoway communication with clientthroughout the conduct of auditengagements.
Contribute tothe discussions of findings with Heads of Service Directors andagree Management Action Plans for the implementation ofrecommendations withthem.
Reportsignificant risk or governance issues arising from the auditsundertaken.
Adhere to thePublic Sector Internal Auditing Standards and the Council spolicies on diversity equal opportunities and health andsafety.
Keep fullyinformed of the latest developments in respect of relevantlegislation and regulations including accountancy and auditregulations risk and audit techniques.
To ensure thatworking practices and processes are developed that maximise the useof new technology to ensure efficient and effective delivery ofservices.
EssentialExperience andQualification:
CertifiedInternal Auditor (IIA) or equivalent;OR
Part qualifiedor part qualified and studying for a CCAB recognised qualificationie (ICAEW ICAS ICAI ACCA CIPFA CIMA)
Relevant degreeand significant relevantexperience
