Equans are working closely in partnership with the Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust to prepare for the opening of the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH), the brand-new centre of healthcare provision for the local community.

Joining our team at MMUH, as part of a wider team responsible for maintenance across other sites within the Trusts estate, you will have a unique opportunity to provide valuable input into the vital final stages prior to opening, influencing how the future management and maintenance of the facility is delivered. You will work on the site throughout the remaining construction and commissioning phases, liaising closely with both the Trust and constructor, and then to continue to maintain the completed hospital.

Equans is looking for a Shift Electrical Engineer to join our team at Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week, based on a shift rota that includes working nights and weekends to provide 24/7 cover on site. On offer is a salary banding of £35, - £38, (inclusive of all allowances) per annum, dependent upon skills and experience, and benefits package.
What will you deliver?
1. Undertake a proactive role in responding to reactive jobs to complete diagnostic, fault finding and repair to complex mechanical systems in accordance with relevant standards and operational procedures and in compliance with legislation and guidance
2. Obtain Competent Person status following training and instruction for systems such as low voltage electrical systems, access control systems, alarm systems and medical gas installations
3. Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks to services across site on various aspects of the building services in accordance with the PPM programme and personal competence and training
4. Minimise penalty deductions by responding in a timely manner to all maintenance issues in accordance with the requirements of the contract
5. Assist in carrying out installation work involved in minor upgrading and adaptation works

Who are we looking for?
19. Previously worked within a maintenance environment
20. At least 3 years post apprenticeship experience within a maintenance environment
21. Good knowledge and understand of a range of complex mechanical systems including but not limited to ventilation, pumps, compressors, boilers, medical gases, heating systems, domestic hot and cold-water systems
22. Recognised apprenticeship in relevant engineering discipline to City & Guilds level
23. GCSE / O Level Mathematics and English or equivalent
24. Possess a current valid driving licence
25. Prepared to travel to other sites within the company
26. City and Guild Inspection and Testing (Desirable)
27. Previous Competent Person/Authorised Person experience including High Voltage and Low Voltage electrical systems (Desirable)
This role includes a DBS Standard check therefore ability to pass is essential.
