Help us make a difference as a Shift Electrical Technician at our Green Energy facility in Hull
The role is Shift rota (2 days / 2 nights / 4 off) but will be days until the site goes live in September.
A quick look at the role.
The role holder will effectively drive engineering activities at our facility to deliver all operational aspects of the facility. The role holder will be responsible for driving plant availability through ensuring all PPM’s, reactive maintenance, engineering, and process improvements are carried out and implemented in a timely manner. The role holder will drive best practice on a shift basis through high engineering, compliance and H&S standards.

Biffa Green Energy is part of our Resources & Energy division that aims to produce solid recovered fuel pellets from non-recyclable household waste. Pellets are used as a coal substitution in heavy industry offering carbon emission savings. This is a great opportunity to work in a growing sustainable industry.
Why it’s an opportunity not to be wasted.
1. The role will include working reactively, dealing with machinery problems and breakdowns, as well as working through planned preventative maintenance and project work. The electrical work covers everything from sensors, relays, ac/dc motors, contactors, control panels and PLC’s. Ideally, we are looking for someone who can fault find on PLC’s, preferably Siemens S7, but anything else is considered.
2. The idea candidate will have experience of working in a similar environment, so either manufacturing or industrial or automated, supporting maintenance work. You must be electrical qualified and competent.
3. Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are reported immediately.
4. Ensure housekeeping is maintained to high standards
5. Motor electrical and mechanical fault finding, familiarity with MCC layout of panels.
6. Controls and Instrumentation (temperatures, pressure transducers, flow meters etc). Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings. Electrical fault diagnoses. PLC hardware knowledge
Requirements

7. Electrical NVQ level 3 or similar
8. HNC Electrical/Electronic Engineering (advantageous)
9. BS7671 18th edition (advantageous)
