Position: Automation Engineer – Electrical & Automation Department Salary: £45-55k SQ Partners client are looking to appoint an experienced Automation Engineer to join their Electrical and Automation Department. This varied and hands-on role requires a solid understanding of electrical drawings, control panel specification/design, PLC programming, touchscreen interfaces, and control systems, along with knowledge of vision and SCADA systems. Experience in the pharmaceutical industry and/or working with explosive atmosphere regulations would be advantageous. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop PLC-based electrical control systems from design specifications. Program PLCs, touchscreen systems, and safety-configurable relay systems. Configure remote I/O, servo motors, and inverter drives. Integrate ancillary equipment such as vision systems into production lines. Troubleshoot and fault-find electrical control systems, PLCs, and hardwired systems. Provide commissioning, support, and service at customer sites. Collaborate closely with electricians and panel builders to design, build, and commission control systems at our factory and on-site. Essential Requirements: Formal Electrical Engineering Qualification (e.g., apprenticeship or equivalent). Solid understanding of electrical control systems, PLC programming, and touchscreens. Willingness to travel to support our worldwide customer base. Desirable Skills & Experience: Experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Knowledge of explosive atmosphere regulations.
