1. Working Arrangements - initially the role is fully office based for the first few week. The role will then be hybrid, 2 days WFH.

The successful candidate MUST have:
4. At least 4 years post Building Surveyor qualification working experience.
5. At least 4 years proven experience undertaking housing stock condition surveys including HHSRS surveys.
6. At least 4 year's experience of carrying out and assessing, diagnosing, undertaking full measured surveys, and producing detailed surveys and reports on remedial works including schedule of costings
7. UK Driving licence, access to own vehicle and business insurance cover on your vehicle
Our client, a South-London local authority, has 14, residential properties and the Council invests about £27m in planned maintenance and improvements each year.
The post holder plays a key role in the collecting, assessing and the future planning of required works to the councils housing and estates. This data and planning is essential in shaping strategic long term investment decisions as well as building the annual and 3-year programmes of works.
Duties
8. undertake surveys of council homes & other assets and assessing them against the decent home standard and housing health and safety rating system.
9. undertake audits and spot checks as required on the stock condition surveys undertaken & data received by consultants, to ensure consistency of assessments.
10. ensure that the findings of the surveys can be used to inform and influence the council's investment programmes, strategies and policies at a strategic level as well as advising on any more immediate works if identified.
11. provide technical and administration support to the Asset Planning Team and its service users, in providing a comprehensive service to the highest professional standards on all aspects of the planning of the Council's housing improvements and maintenance capital programmes.
12. Assessing homes against the decent home standard, HHSRS and council standards and programmes, making recommendations on the timing of future investment in individual properties
13. Make recommendations regarding future investment needs in order to maintain the housing stock in optimum condition including required improvements.
14. Contribute to decisions on specific 'targeted' surveys to ensure % of housing stock is surveyed within each survey cycle (five or seven years).
15. Contributing to council standards in relation to decent homes, and responsive and planned repairs eg use of materials and products
16. Assess and respond with due urgency if a potentially dangerous situation is discovered during the course of a survey, including liaising with Responsive repairs staff etc. regarding urgent / Category 1 HHSRS hazards.
