The role
At Moonbug, we are passionate about crafting exceptional content, from bespoke "Originals" for partners such as Amazon, Sky, and Netflix to hours of "Core" content for platforms like YouTube. Our commitment extends to producing "Third Party Branded" content for external partners, showcasing our versatility in content creation across various platforms while collaborating with industry giants.
As a key member of the Studios finance team, reporting directly to the Senior Director Finance, you will play a pivotal role in all aspects of Production accounting. Your responsibilities will span from meticulous invoice and expense verification to collaborating with the VP Production in setting budgets and forecasts. Based at our London head office, you'll work closely with our creative team, leveraging your financial expertise to support the smooth execution of our ambitious content creation projects.
Responsibilities
1. Spearhead the execution of live action projects, overseeing the seamless integration of various production elements to ensure a cohesive and high-quality end product.
2. Foster strong collaborative relationships with producers, serving as a key liaison between creative teams and business stakeholders.
3. Actively participate in pre-production meetings, offering financial guidance and strategic input to align production plans with budgetary constraints and business objectives.
4. Implement rigorous financial controls to accurately track and report production costs, ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the project lifecycle.
5. Collaborate with finance teams to maintain accurate financial records and provide timely updates on cost reports, allowing for informed decision-making and proactive cost management.
6. Work closely with producers to develop and refine project cost estimates, considering various factors such as resource allocation, market conditions, and unforeseen challenges.
7. Monitor actual expenses against estimates, identifying and addressing any variances promptly to align with producers expectations and overall project goals.
8. Collaborate with treasury and financial planning teams to optimise cash management strategies and support the overall financial health of the production.
9. Create compelling and clear presentations of financial data, effectively communicating key insights and performance metrics to broadcast partners and executive producers
10. Engage in constructive dialogue to address queries, provide financial perspectives, and align stakeholders on financial strategies that support the success of the production.
11. Proactively engage in scenario planning exercises with producers to assess potential risks and opportunities, developing contingency plans to mitigate financial challenges and capitalise on favorable conditions.
Requirements
Utilise Smart Accounting software to streamline financial processes, enhance reporting accuracy, and contribute to efficient project management.
12. Possess a strong financial background with a proven track record in production accounting.
13. In-depth knowledge of financial principles and practices, particularly in the context of live action projects.
14. Proven experience overseeing projects from inception to completion with a focus on maintaining high-quality standards.
15. Familiarity with tax credits is preferred, though not mandatory
16. Experience within the animation industry is preferred
