We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Associate Forensic Fire Surveyor to lead and develop a team of Forensic Fire Surveyors as part of the establishment of a Wales Site Team. This team will address the growing demand driven by our appointment to key Welsh Government frameworks and schemes. In this pivotal role, you will take responsibility for team management, providing training, mentorship, and guidance to support the personal and professional development of team members, ensuring the delivery of high-quality outcomes aligned with organisational goals and client expectations. You will be responsible for conducting detailed site inspections and reporting, working collaboratively with fire engineers, building owners, and contractors to develop and implement effective remediation plans. Your work will include thorough assessments of building cladding systems and passive fire protection measures to ensure compliance with fire safety regulations, including the Building Safety Act and other relevant standards and guidance documents. This role is primarily site and office-based, with the flexibility to work from home as required. We also gift you the days between Christmas and NY off Private Healthcare Flexible working Annual bonus Competitive salary Electric car scheme (and many more) Main Duties Conduct external wall cladding assessments and compartmentation/firestopping surveys on buildings to evaluate fire performance and compliance with safety regulations. Prepare detailed reports that will inform a fire engineer to create Fire Risk Appraisal of External Wall Systems (FRAEWS) and External Wall Fire Review (EWS1) forms, in line with regulatory requirements. Identify fire risks associated with cladding and firestopping systems and advise on appropriate remediation strategies. Work closely with fire engineers, architects, and building owners to recommend cost-effective, compliant solutions for fire safety improvements. Perform on-site inspections of building materials and construction methods, focusing on fire-resisting systems, facades, firestopping and insulation. Manage and oversee cladding and compartmentation/firestopping remediation projects, ensuring that work is carried out to the required safety and regulatory standards. Stay up-to-date with changes in fire safety regulations, materials, and best practices related to cladding and external walls. Line management responsibilities - you will manage a team and be expected to engage and monitor employee performance and report performance reviews to directors. Monitor project progress and manage deadlines efficiently. Support tendering processes by providing technical input and reviewing contractor proposals for cladding and fire safety works. Participate in multidisciplinary project teams and offer technical guidance on fire risk mitigation. Assist in the development and review of company policies related to fire safety and building regulations. What we ask for from you A degree in Civil Engineering, Building Surveying, Fire Engineering, Façade Engineering, or a related discipline or 10 years of recognised prior experience in these fields. Chartered status (RICS, IFE, CIOB, CABE) or working towards membership is highly desirable. Proven experience in façade/external wall inspections, fire consultancy, or building surveying, with a focus on fire safety, external wall systems and compartmentation/firestopping. Significant understanding of cladding systems, curtain walling, materials, and their fire performance characteristics (e.g., ACM, HPL, insulation types). Familiarity with fire testing standards (BS 8414, BS EN 13501) and compliance frameworks (Building Safety Act, Approved Document B). Understanding of fire safety legislation, including the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Fire Safety Act 2021, and Building Safety Act 2022. Strong technical report-writing skills and ability to clearly communicate complex fire safety issues. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Capability to manage and develop a team of Forensic Fire Surveyors that will support the team lead. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites as required.
