Essentially,the role is to provide clerical support to the Histopathology team comprising ofClinical Histopathologists and laboratory personnel, ensuring that a highstandard of service is maintained, to meet the needs of the patient and thoseof the department.
Main duties of the job
To keep accurate, up-to-date patient records using manual and electronic systems: TDHC (Histopathology database), Medway, CWP, HODS etc. which involves data entry and maintenance of various databases. Other administrative duties include covering workload during absences, filing of paperwork, blocks and slides and dealing with multi- disciplinary meetings.

Towork as part of a team and to provide clerical support to teams of ClinicalConsultant Histopathologist, SpRs, BMS and Pathology Office staff
Printrun: appropriate dissemination of a variety of medical reports and pathologymaterial, some of which is highly confidential
Filingof medical reports and general filing
Scanningpaper files and reports into databases
Ensuringaccurate patient demographics when inputting personal and clinical data into onto databases and Medway systems may involve resolving subsequentdiscrepancies.
Cataloguedaily, all Christie pathological specimens (theatre/wards/departments) usingTechnidata and dealing with any subsequent problems
Returnpathological material to the referring hospital recording relevant trackinginformation for accreditation and audit purposes using manual and/or electronicsystems
Toprovide clerical and organisation assistance in connection with trials andjoint research projects (involving clinical departments and external bodies)
Organisingspecial deliveries with various couriers
Preparevarious Multidisciplinary Team meetings (MDTs), ensuring all relevantinformation and pathological material is available in a timely manner on behalfof the Consultant Histopathologists
Workwith Histology Services Manager andcolleagues to improve quality and range of services, with resources beingmanaged according to agreed policies and priorities
Attendappropriate training and education sessions at the request of the manager
Toundertake any other duties commensurate with the post that are required by theHistology Service Manager and the Divisional Secretarial Service Manager
Safety:
Toobserve safety regulations and attend mandatory fire, manual handling and othercourses as required
Toassist in the investigations of any incidents.
Tobe responsible for own professional/personal development, includingparticipation in on-going appraisals and personal development plan
