Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Lecturer who specializes in PMLD/ASD to join our dedicated and welcoming team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for planning differentiated work to meet the needs of individuals and groups, promoting progression, continuity, and quality of learning.
You will have or be working towards a Diploma in Education and Training or equivalent and recent Outstanding/Good teaching experience with students with special needs. Your expertise will enable you to accurately assess student needs, deliver targeted teaching, and measure progress with a determination to positively impact on their lives.
In collaboration with allied professionals, you will develop and implement effective educational programmes that cater to the diverse needs of our students. This includes joint provision with therapists, personnel from Social Services, Health, and Education, as well as liaising with parents, carers, advocates, and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities
* Effective planning of teaching/learning within designated curriculum areas.
* Implementing appropriate assessment, objective setting, recording, reporting, and evaluation of educational programmes.
* Ensuring that student learning experiences are organized in a progression that supports individual development.
* Demonstrating a commitment to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.
* Ensuring equipment/materials required for teaching/learning are safe and suitable.
* Responsibility for identifying and ordering equipment within curriculum area budget.
* Commitment to upholding the ethos of The Hill College and Academy Trust as an educational provision, ensuring dignity of the learner and positive relationships between staff and students.
* Responsibility for developing, reviewing, clarifying, documenting, and publishing designated curriculum areas.
* Effective management and supervision of team members, including volunteers, students, and visitors when necessary.
Skills and Qualifications
* A Certificate of Education (CertEd) on appointment or an alternative equivalent teaching qualification.
* Level 2 Maths and English qualifications or willingness to enroll on internal functional skills course within first year of employment and complete within 2 years.
* Recent Outstanding/Good teaching experience with students with special needs.
* Able to demonstrate effective planning of educational programmes for adults with special needs.
* Able to implement appropriate assessment, objective setting, recording, reporting, and evaluation of educational programmes.
* Able to communicate effectively with students, carers, and professionals.
* Able to initiate development in designated curriculum areas.
* Able to manage and direct teaching teams.
* Able to co-ordinate and implement programmes of staff development internally and externally.
* Able to communicate a commitment to the view that students with special needs can and do achieve.
* Able to work successfully with students exhibiting challenging behaviour.
* Able to demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and promote compliance with College's policies.
