The Army Foundation College (Harrogate) trains all Junior Soldiers under the age of 18 and prepares them for their subsequent Phase 2 Training - an exciting and challenging course programme, which includes military skills, education, adventure training and life skills. We employ a large work force comprising military staff, civil servants, and contractors, all working together to create an exciting and diverse work environment. This exciting new role is pivotal to the welfare activities of the Army Foundation College (Harrogate) and we are looking for an adaptable, enthusiastic, efficient professional to join our elite team.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description
The successful candidate will be required to assist the Wellbeing Support Officer to provide wellbeing support and bespoke interventions to Junior Soldiers to enrich their experience at the Army Foundation College (Harrogate) and support their transition into the Army.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Provide the required level of support to Junior Soldiers in response to issues arising from collective adverse childhood experiences and current stressors that are impacting on their ability to succeed on the course.
2. Support Junior Soldiers concerns via proactive case management in collaboration with the Wellbeing Support Officer.
3. Refer and signpost Junior Soldiers to the appropriate internal parties Medical /Chain of Command /Special Educational Needs Coordinator and external Secondary and Statutory Services.
4. Liaise with the chain of command to provide situational awareness and to cue either additional support or managerial action for each Junior Soldier.
5. Communicate with parents/guardians/services and internal Subject Matter Experts.
6. Conduct initial assessment of Junior Soldiers; initiate, maintain and manage ongoing Junior Soldier case files on restricted access systems.
7. Input and maintain related military data capture.
8. Develop and retain professional competencies/ memberships reflecting latest legislation applicable to tasks undertaken.
9. Work occasional after hours/out of hours as directed, for Army Foundation College activities and events.
10. In collaboration with the Unit Welfare Officer and Wellbeing Support Officer, conduct onward referrals to external agencies as per policy, as required.

12. NVQ L4 Diploma in a health and social care related subject.
13. Level 2 or 3 Safeguarding Training.
14. Advanced Care of Trainees � completion required once taken up appointment.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in an office, subject to local estates capacity.� Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or carry out detached duty in another MOD workplace, will also count towards this level of attendance. External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a six-month probation period.
