You will join a friendly, busy department who have a close working relationship with our clinical consultant staff. We are MHRA compliant and UKAS accredited.
We have unsociable hours and a locally agreed fixed payment for night shifts. An enhanced relocation package may be available.

We have a well-designed, up-to-date lab with Grifols analysers in blood transfusion, blood track and Contronics temperature monitoring system. In haematology and coagulation we have Sysmex XNs and ACL TOPS. For quality management we use Q-Pulse system. We are also in the process of upgrading our existing LIMS system (winpath enterprise).

Specialist Biomedical Scientist Job Information
Our pathology department is part of the collaborative East Coast Pathology Network (see attached document)
You will enjoy a varied range of responsibilities from maintaining the quality management system and UKAS accreditation, training of less experienced members of staff, validating and authorising results and most importantly providing quality service for our patients.
You will be expected toresolvecomplex equipment or process problems and performmanual, semi-automated and fully automated laboratory investigations, including specialist investigations, within defined service area accurately and efficiently.
You willparticipatein the day to day management of stock control and usage. This may include maintaining Blood Transfusion and Haematology stock levels and records and monitor usage to ensure efficient use where appropriate.

3. Additional appropriate specialist qualification if required

5. Appropriate Post Registration IBMS Specialist Diploma or IBMS diploma in Biomedical Science
Knowledge & Experience

6. Theoretical knowledge and practical experience of specialist biomedical procedures relevant to post.
7. Substantial practical experience of working in a Biomedical Science laboratory.
8. Experience of Quality Management Systems
9. Experience of performing Risk Assessments.

10. European Computer Driving Licence or equivalent
11. Previous relevant experience of working in the NHS
