As a driver trainer, you will be working under the direction of the Chief Driving Instructor for the Driver Training Unit, within a team of Police Driving Instructors to deliver driver training to learners who are required to drive Police vehicles at Basic, Response, Advanced and TPAC (Tactical Pursuit and Containment) standards. You will be responsible for ensuring that training standards are maintained in line with national guidance set within the College of Policing APP.Warwickshire Police is committed to supporting all colleagues with continuous professional development, great staff networks and benefits, associations and social clubs, wellbeing support, and a comprehensive development programme across the force.Key Responsibilities:Responsibility for the delivery of Response and Advanced driver training.Ensure compliance with personnel policies and procedures.Continued Driver accreditation in line with College of Policing APP.Evaluate current delivery methods in order to propose ways of enhancing delivery and implementing new approaches to learning.Have a full understanding of the current National Driver Policy, National APP/CoP and legislation relating to driver training and law including the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022.To be eligible to apply, you must:Be serving, or have served in a Home Office force or BTP.Be a current Police Advanced driver.To hold a recognised Police Driver Trainers Course qualification and be operationally competent to drive at Advanced standards.Be an accredited Response/Advanced trainer (qualified). Knowledge and experience of Road Policing.Hold a relevant NVQ level 4 Certificate in Education and Training or equivalent including CETLS, TEP etcBe able to evidence excellent communication skills, both verbally and written, with the ability to produce concise and well-reasoned reports with appropriate recommendations when required.Effective maintenance of systems and record books and presentation of reports when required. Desirable:Experience of environmental scanning to embrace operational practices, technology and legislation.DVSA ADI registrationNVQ level 3 Assessor in Occupational or Vocational standards in the workplace.Be able to deliver train the trainer courses to develop new staff.Core hours of work 0800 x 1800 Monday to Thursday, requirements of the role will occasionally include work outside of these core hours including evenings working to support Operational L&D or the operational needs of Warwickshire Police.The role will be a part of the Driver Training Unit, currently based at Stratford upon Avon, with occasional working at other locations throughout the force area as and when required or directed by the Chief Driving Instructor.
