North Ayrshire Council is creating temporary positions within our Skills for Life programme for Pupil Support Assistants. The programme is funded by Scottish Government and aims to support parents to gain training, skills, and experience within various educational establishments throughout North Ayrshire.
We are offering:
* A mentored placement for 24 weeks (January - June) 20 hours per week, term-time.
* Paid at the Real Living Wage, £12.60 per hour.
* In-Work Support throughout the placement.
* Pre-employment training including a Paediatric First Aid course.
Eligibility: To be considered for this programme you must be:
* A parent with a dependent child(ren) living with you.
* A North Ayrshire resident.
* Currently unemployed.
An interview slot will be given to all eligible applicants. You will be invited to an interview within one week of the advert closing date.
As part of the Skills for Life programme, you will be registered with We Work for Families in Ardrossan to ensure you meet the eligibility criteria. You will be asked to provide ID and meet with support services.
This programme also requires a Disclosure (PVG). Three forms of ID are required, one of which must include photographic ID and one must include your current address details.
You will be given in-work support throughout your placement by an assigned member of our Team, who will work with you on a regular basis on updating your CV, helping with application forms, and job searching. The aim of this placement is to give you the experience and skills you need to apply for any advertised posts that would suit you.
To assist with this, after week 13 of your placement, you will be added to North Ayrshire Council's redeployment list giving your application priority if you apply for a job within the Council and you meet the criteria.

PVG (Children)
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act, 2007. Therefore, it is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children.
Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by North Ayrshire Council. Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant PVG check (£59 or £18), which will be deducted in instalments from your wages following commencement of employment.
Please note if you are the successful candidate your name and email address will be entered into the Disclosure Scotland PVG system to generate your PVG form which will be issued to your email with an enclosed link to complete.
