The Recipe
To provide leadership to the manufacturing facility of the bakery, with a focus on HSE, food safety and cost, meeting deadlines and targets. Driving a continuously improving environment to maximise Bakery and team performance and ensure that fresh, quality products reach the Internal customers both on time and in full.
Key Accountabilities and Measures
1. Lead the manufacturing team to deliver the annual HSE plan and drive the HSE culture change through team engagement, involvement and responsibility for HSE activities
2. Lead the manufacturing processes to ensure that all internal and external food safety standards and requirements are met.
3. Ensure that effective systems are set up and followed to ensure all products are manufactured to specification.
4. Ensure that product complaints are minimised and dealt with promptly and effectively.
5. All trials are planned and executed to plan.
6. Continuous Improvement opportunities identified and projects delivered to completion.
7. Identify and manage the execution of site-based projects.
8. Lead, motivate, develop and coach the manufacturing team to ensure they achieve all agreed KPI’s, personal targets and development plans as identified in their role profiles and via performance review meetings.
9. Manage underperformance promptly through regular reviews and appropriate actions plans
10. Develop revenue and capital budgets and manage expenditure to ensure budget targets are achieved.
11. Performance - ensure that all employees are aware of the Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) that they are accountable and responsible for within each of the departments within Operations.
Essential Ingredients
Essential Knowledge:
12. Knowledge and experience of management in an FMCG environment.
13. HS&E / Food Safety systems and & legislation knowledge e.g. HACCP, COSHH, IOSH - able to ensure a safe working environment for self and others.
14. Warburtons quality systems – able to ensure the teams outputs meet required quality standards.
15. IT & PC knowledge – able to use widespread functions within the relevant software. (inc MS Office and SAP)
16. Knowledge and experience of bread making process, plant & technology.
17. Knowledge of HR policies and the law in relation to employment of people.
18. Understand the overall company strategy and plans and has a broad understanding of the work of other functions and departments in the business
