RF Hardware Engineer
Location: Harlow
Hours: Fulltime 37 hrs
Raytheon UK is looking for a RF Hardware Engineer to join a successful Assured Position, Navigation and Timing (APNT) team within the Global Sensors Mission Area, creating RF GPS/GNSS Anti-Jam Systems for the military market.
The RF Hardware Engineer will assist in the integration of designs into products, being the focal point for the complete solution. They will support engineering solutions, overseeing contributions from all other engineering disciplines. This is an ideal opportunity for an RF Hardware Engineer who wants to work on exciting technology and product development projects in a collaborative environment.
This role includes:
* Developing requirements for new products.
* RF hardware design and development from the initial concept stage to final production and certification.
* Design and implement RF test solutions.
* Collaborating with the product hardware team and other engineering disciplines throughout the design cycle.
* Producing design documentation and reports for project artefacts and deliverables.
* Working with internal customers and the Product Design Authority to develop and shape technical requirements.
* Interface with suppliers and industry experts.
* Solving complex technical problems on new and existing GPS/GNSS Anti-Jam Products.
Essential Skills:
* A passion for RF with a desire to learn and grow.
* 2-3 years working experience within an RF position.
* Experience in design and layout of RF and analogue micro circuitry.
* Understanding of down conversion and up conversion techniques.
* Familiarity with Microwave simulators (Cadence preferred) and PCB layout tools.
* Understanding of RF test equipment.
* Knowledge of product design and problem solving within a design for manufacture environment.
* Good team player who takes ownership of problems.
* Understanding of circuit operation, debugging, and diagnosis.
* Problem solving and analytical skills.
* Good communication skills tailored to different audiences.
* Able to prioritise and manage tasks efficiently.
* Willingness to travel throughout the UK, Europe, and the US.
* Eligible or current holder of SC security clearance.
Desired Skills:
* Basic understanding/experience in the design of Receiver technologies in the 1-2 GHz band.
* Ability to take an overall systems view.
* Experience in stakeholder management and customer interfacing.
* Understanding of 6 Sigma and Lean Manufacturing principles.
* Experience in interpreting customer specs and developing hardware concepts.
* Analytical skills in circuit simulation and thermal analysis.
* Experience with Mentor Graphics tool suite and Product Quality Testing.
Required Education:
* Minimum of Degree in a related subject, preferably in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
* Relevant higher national qualification combined with experience in RF product design and development is also considered.
