Are you someone who enjoys applying analytical techniques and wants to expand on these skills while building your knowledge of the whole Aviva Group?
Typically for this role you will be someone with a numerate, mathematical or data science background who enjoys applying these skills in novel ways to new datasets or new areas of the business. You will be naturally curious and keen to develop yourself further by researching and applying new analytical approaches.
You will work as part of a small delivery squad (c.3-4 people) within the wider Risk Analytics Insight and Data (RAID) Team to deliver data science and analytical insight and tooling to all Risk Teams in Aviva. You will be a team player with good communication and interpersonal skills as collaboration within and outside the team is key to the role.
A bit about the job:
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Risk Analytics Insight and Data (RAID) team for a data scientist. This is a unique role in working across both GI and Life entities supporting the Senior Risk Leadership with projects contributing to their objectives in supporting and challenging the business.
We work closely with the experts within Risk to identify where data-led projects can contribute to their goals, then collaborate with them and others around the business to deliver these projects and communicate back our findings to a senior audience.
Our projects range from one-off investigations to building persistent tools so you will be as comfortable with producing insight and data storytelling as you are with producing high quality code for maintainable tools.
You can expect to be involved across the full project life cycle: ideation, data sourcing, governance, data engineering, application, and validation of analytical techniques, and supporting the effective communication of the findings of the work.
Skills and experience we’re looking for:

* Creative thinker/problem solver with knowledge of applying modelling techniques to complex/novel problems.
* Expertise in some, if not all, of the following areas: Statistics, Machine Learning, Deep Learning and AI.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills within a highly collaborative environment, alongside the ability to listen and present to non-technical audiences.
What you’ll get for this role:
* Salary: Circa £30,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications).
