Project engineer required to join a well-established manufacturing company that specialise in Metal Stamping, based in the Wolverhampton area.
Project Engineer Position Overview
1. Overall responsibility for delivering assigned NPI projects on-time, to specification and within budget
2. Represent the company with customers and selected vendors during project execution
3. Report project status internally and present to customers
4. Creation of timing plans covering from receipt of order to SOP
5. Provide solutions to delivery and technical issues
6. Conduct tool design reviews and final tooling buy offs with toolmakers in the UK and China
7. Will require occasional visits to toolmakers in China
8. Negotiate the scope of work, and any subsequent changes, with customers and vendors
9. Manage project budgets and raise orders with vendors
10. Create and review APQP and PPAP documents for submission to customers
11. Support any other customer specific requirements during project phase
12. Co-ordinate projects with other departments to ensure actions are carried out in line with timing plans
13. Responsible for handing over all documents, tools and fixtures to production and quality teams ahead of SOP
14. Ensure safe manufacturing processes are delivered to production and provide support after SOP
15. Identify project risks and create contingency plans to ensure successful delivery of projects
16. Support technical feasibility and DFM reviews
17. Contribute to continuous improvement activities within the engineering department
Project Engineer Position Requirements
18. Degree, HNC or equivalent in an engineering or science discipline
19. Professional management capability requiring considerable independence in approach; make decisions, set priorities, and deliver the project to budget and schedule.
20. Proven experience with press tooling in either design and/or manufacturing environments
21. Excellent communication skills
22. Strong problem solving skills
23. Understanding of contracts and commercial awareness
24. Good understanding of technical drawings
25. Use of Microsoft Project
Project Engineer Position Remuneration
26. Full time - Permanent position
27. Salary £35,000 - £45,000 (DOE)
28. 35 hour week - 08:30-16:30 Mon to Thurs and 08:30:13:30 Friday
29. Quarterly bonus
