Head of Digital Development - University of Exeter
Location: Hybrid (Flexible between home and Streatham Campus)
Hours: Full time (36.5 hours per week)
Onsite Requirement: Flexible, likely 2-3 times per month

The University of Exeter is seeking a Head of Digital Development to drive the future of their digital landscape and lead their engineering team to new heights. You will play a pivotal role in advancing their 2030 Digital Strategy and transforming the university into a beacon of digital excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and grow the engineering function, including Developers, Technical Analysts, DevOps Engineers, and Testers, to create a benchmark for engineering standards across the Higher Education sector.
* Develop and implement a leading-edge technology strategy and technical roadmaps aligned with the 2030 Digital Strategy by connecting platforms and products.
* Foster a high-performance, collaborative culture and drive the adoption of Agile and DevOps methodologies, ensuring development processes are architecturally aligned.
* Engage with stakeholders to ensure digital initiatives align with university goals and work closely with IT for effective implementation.
* Leverage cloud computing, machine learning, AI, and emerging technologies to enhance digital capabilities and embed clear processes around these.
* Build the first student-led University App for the University of Exeter.
Required Experience:
* Mobile app release experience, through both Apple, Android & other app stores.
* Proven leadership and team management skills, with a track record of developing and motivating high-performing engineering teams and embedding best practice processes.
* Strong strategic thinking with expertise in crafting and executing technology strategies that align with organisational goals.
* Deep technical knowledge across software engineering domains and hands-on experience with digital technologies.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for various audiences.
* Capability to network and build strong relationships across a highly capable community of senior leaders across multiple digital & technology domains both internally and with external market leading partners.
* Experience in releasing digital products for customer-centric organisations.
* Experience in managing and implementing innovative solutions in a complex organisation.
