As the Lead Network Architect, you will play a crucial role in shaping the technical direction and architecture for complex IP Network, Security, and Unified Communications (UC) solutions within Defence and IT domains. Reporting to the Head of Solution Architecture (HoA) and collaborating with Enterprise Architects, Programme, Project, and Operate Teams, you will drive coherence, best practices, and innovation across projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and Technical Design Authority, ensuring technical rigour and alignment with MOD standards across architectures and procurements.
2. Define, analyse, and interpret user requirements, providing strategic guidance on scope and options for operational and business improvements.
3. Present complex technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, delivering briefings and presentations for project teams, management, and customers.
4. Lead solution architecture initiatives, taking responsibility for the integrity of solutions, from requirements mapping through to implementation, ensuring technology-agnostic service management.
5. Oversee and mentor Solution Architects and stakeholders, promoting industry best practices and consistency in tools and technology usage, ensuring reuse over duplication.
6. Support in assessing and challenging industry suppliers to adopt best practices, modernise (evergreen) services, and maximise value, performance, and alignment within the Defence ICT Estate.
7. Represent technical choices, options, and considerations to the Design Authority Board, advocating for technologies that align with strategic goals and mitigate potential risks.
8. Contribute to the upskilling of crown servants and maintain thorough documentation to ensure continuity and knowledge transfer.
This role requires a candidate with strong leadership, an extensive understanding of MOD technologies, and a proactive approach to aligning solutions with business objectives and technical excellence.
