Job summary
Job Title - Receptionist
Hours - 20-24 hours per week.
Clinical system - EMIS Web clinical system (experience
preferred but training will be provided)
Duration - 6 months probation and then review with view to
permanent long term employment
Salary - Competitive depending on experience
Receptionist is required to complement our exiting staff in a well organised paperless Practice. Hours are flexible and can be covered in 4-5 days, (in shifts of 9am-1pm and 2pm – 6:30pm, initially two sessions in the morning and two in the evening preferably on different days).
Good communication skills and adherence to strict confidentiality is necessary. Knowledge of computing/keyboard skills desirable but training will be provided to the selected candidate.
Main duties of the job
Main duties include answering the telephone and booking appointments, dealing with patient and general enquiries.

Duties and Responsibilities
Telephone Duties
appointments
requests for prescriptions
3.Ambulance transport bookings (when directed)
with general enquiries
5.Contacting other providers (when directed)
Reception Duties
6.Register new patients
and direct patients and visitors
appointments
9.Handing out prescriptions
outstanding queries are explained and handed over to next shift, as necessary
11.Respond to needs of doctors and nurses during surgery
12.Collect payments from patients for non-NHS services and issue receipt
with general enquiries
Filing
14.Pulling Lloyd George envelopes (old style notes) when requested by doctors
Prescriptions
15.Dealing with requests for repeat prescriptions
16.Raising prescriptions as per Practice protocols
17.Dealing with queries relating to repeat prescriptions
General
and extract information from Practice computer system ( hospital letters and other communication on to the computer system)
19.Observe health and safety guidelines at all times
20.General housekeeping ( keeping reception and waiting areas tidy)
