Matchtech are supporting a key client in Toronto to recruit for a Senior/Principal Level Electrification Engineer. This role requires the candidate to be based in Canada or open to relocating. The Role We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on diverse and challenging projects, contribute to our expanding client base and play a pivotal role in enhancing our EMC capability. Key responsibilities Lead and contribute to a wide range of rolling stock, infrastructure and research-driven projects on behalf of our esteemed clients such as Metrolinx, Translink, Hitachi and City of Calgary. Collaborate with project leads to ensure project delivery adheres to high-quality standards and meets established timelines. Develop engineering safety cases with a focus on electrical engineering aspects, including but not limited to overhead line harmonics, interference into trackside equipment, train borne interference interacting with safety-critical signalling systems, and compliance with EMC standards like EN 50121. Prepare comprehensive technical engineering reports and develop credible safety arguments to demonstrate the safety of proposed changes and control risks to an acceptable level. Review and assess electrical safety documentation, raise observations and close out accordingly when sufficient evidence has been received to demonstrate compliance with CMREA. Attend SRP Meetings to support significant change submissions Peer review assessment records completed by assessors Key Competencies and Experience Experience in electrical engineering preferably with a focus on EMC. Proven expertise in writing engineering safety cases, specifically addressing electrical engineering issues related to EMC compliance, harmonics, interference, and signalling systems. Strong understanding of power electronics, AC machines, and control systems to effectively mitigate interference and ensure SIL integrity. Experience in risk assessment methodologies (CSM-RA / CMREA), hazid meetings, hazard record management and equipment failure modes analysis. Excellent technical report writing skills and the ability to develop credible safety arguments. Demonstrated ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders, including infrastructure controllers, regulatory bodies and industry partners. Strong attention to detail, problem solving abilities, and a passion for delivering high-quality results. Independent Safety Assessment experience is desirable
