JR229: IT Support Engineer (2nd line)
Location: Swindon, Wiltshire
Salary: Up to £37,000 Per Annum
Overview:
First Military Recruitment are currently seeking an IT Support Engineer (2nd line) on behalf of one of our clients.
Our client encourages applications from ex-military personnel; however, all candidates will be given due consideration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assess, troubleshoot, and support resolving server and end-user computing issues using known troubleshooting methodologies.
2. Help to develop processes and methods of operating that conform to ITIL disciplines.
3. Work from or travel to company sites to provide IT support as required; the department has a dedicated IT van.
4. Ensure that all work carried out for users is recorded in the in-house systems, and that work is correctly attributed, enabling us to accurately demonstrate performance of the service to the business units.
5. Maintain a level of technical competence that remains current and fit for purpose, highlighting any training needs to the IT Operations Manager, while participating in training other team members to increase overall knowledge and competencies, improving the levels of service.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Strong knowledge of Windows Servers, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and VMWare.
2. Hands-on demonstrable experience with server infrastructure and networking; LAN, vLAN, WAN, VPNs, etc.
3. Microsoft Intune & Defender.
4. Driving licence and own transport - essential.
5. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly and plainly explain complex situations.
6. High attention to detail and organisational skills.
