We are looking to employ a Clinical Psychologist to join our well-established community learning disability team in North Warwickshire. The psychological services team sits within the wider multidisciplinary team and includes Clinical and Assistant Psychologists, as well as Art and Music Therapists. There is strong multi-disciplinary working within the service and the contribution of psychological services staff is highly valued.
Main duties of the job
1. To ensure the systematic provision of a high quality, specialist Psychological Service to patients of the Community Learning Disability Teams in North Warwickshire.
2. To work co-operatively with multi-disciplinary colleagues to achieve service goals.
3. To provide psychological assessment and therapy.
4. To supervise and support the psychological assessment and therapy provided by other clinicians and more junior Psychologists involved with these services.
5. Work autonomously within professional guidelines, exercising full clinical responsibility, and implementing changes where necessary.

Job description
The successful applicant will receive excellent support and regular, good quality supervision and opportunities for continuing professional development. We have well-established links with the Coventry and Warwick Doctoral Training courses in Clinical Psychology, providing core placements, teaching sessions and supervising doctoral research projects. We are also developing further research links with Warwick University and there will be a variety of opportunities to maintain and develop your research skills.
The post holder will provide input to this Community Learning Disability Team in the form of specialist assessments and psychological interventions, team formulation, consultation, training and supervision of other qualified staff. Clinical work will often involve working with the wider system around a client through supporting families, carers and other agencies in their psychological understanding. There are exciting initiatives underway including involvement in the national Trauma-AID trial looking at the use of EMDR in people with a learning disability, behaviour clinics in line with the STOMP/STAMP agenda and a Community Based DBT programme all of which are demonstrating good outcomes for our clients. This community post will require travel across the Trust so car owner/driver or suitable alternative transport arrangements will be required to enable you to undertake the job. The post is subject to an enhanced DBS Check.
