Position: Pastoral Support Officer
Location: Dover, Kent
About the Role:
Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Pastoral Support Officer to join a thriving secondary school in Dover. This role is essential to the school’s commitment to nurturing and supporting the well-being of students. You will work closely with teachers, students, and families to provide tailored guidance, helping students overcome personal challenges and reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-on-one and group support to students facing emotional, social, or behavioural challenges.
* Act as a key point of contact for students, offering advice and pastoral care.
* Develop and implement personalised pastoral plans to support students’ academic and personal progress.
* Monitor students' well-being and behaviour, offering proactive interventions where necessary.
* Liaise with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to ensure effective student support.
* Promote positive behaviour management and a safe, inclusive learning environment.
Requirements:
* Previous experience in a pastoral or support role within an educational setting (desirable).
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students, parents, and staff.
* Empathy, patience, and a passion for supporting the well-being of young people.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to the wider school community.
* Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures (training provided if needed).
* Relevant qualifications in education, social care, or youth work (desirable).
