Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council is going through change, and this is an exciting time to join the planning team. The Enforcement Team plays a key part in support the delivery of this change and to balancing growth and constraint in a borough which comprises 70% Green Belt and almost 27% AONB with a diverse range of towns, villages and countryside.
As the Planning Enforcement Manager you would be expected to take the lead, alongside the Development Manager on attending, advising and assisting members of the planning/select scrutiny committee as and when required through appropriate recommendations in order to ensure that advice and decisions reached are in accordance with the law, good practice, policies and government advice and are reasonable, proportionate and sustainable.
You will lead the team of Senior and Planning Enforcement Officers ensuring operational decisions are well managed, including allocation of cases and holding sign off responsibility for all types of enforcement notices whilst ensuring performance is continually monitored.
A key element of this role mean you would be required to manage a caseload of principally the most complex and high profile enforcement complaints and breaches of planning control, develop and assess cases against planning policy and formulate recommendations to the Development Manager and Head of Planning whilst also looking forward towards service efficiencies and improvement.
Experience in Development Management and Enforcement matters are essential for this role. You should possess a relevant first degree and an RTPI accredited Post Graduate Degree in Planning.
