Goodenough College is seeking an experienced Head of Estates to oversee a range of critical functions of its properties including estate operations, asset replacement, sustainable energy management, and capital projects.
The College is an educational charity, providing accommodation to international postgraduate students (we call them Members) and their families in a friendly and collegiate setting on two sites across a picturesque London Square.
Some key responsibilities will include supporting the Director of Estates with several key projects such as refurbishment of 43-47 Mecklenburgh Square, integration of smart building technologies, and implementation of in-year inspection and maintenance programme. The Head of Estates will be responsible for managing a team, ensuring everyone achieves a high level of performance and productivity. Monitoring and reporting department budget will also be an element of the role. Delivering effective health and safety leadership and producing reports for audits and inspections are also part of the duties.
Applicants should possess a relevant higher qualification in a building-related discipline and be a member of a recognised institute (such as CIOB, RICS, or IWFM). Proven success in facilities management at senior level and experience in managing complex capital projects are essential. Having led and supervised a multi-disciplinary team and service providers is a must. Applicants should know how to manage budgets, energy contracts, and deliver business continuity. Expertise in health and safety best practice is also crucial.
The College is offering a salary of £70,000 per annum. If you think you might be that person, please read the full job description and person specification section before applying.
Please send your CV, with a brief (single page) covering letter telling us about your main motivations for applying and highlighting the key relevant experiences and skills you would bring to the role. CVs sent without a covering letter may not be considered. Applications to be emailed to Zakiyah Kihl, HR Manager at jobs@goodenough.ac.uk.
Closing date: 10 January 2025, although we may close the vacancy earlier due to high volume of applicants.
Applicants must provide evidence of the right to live and work in the UK.
Goodenough College is committed to and proud of its equality of opportunity and diversity in employment. We welcome all applicants. If invited to interview, please let us know of any specific access requirements you may have.
