Job summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Control Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team in Birmingham. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a fast-paced systems integration environment, delivering bespoke automation solutions to a diverse range of industries.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and implement PLC-based control systems using Siemens, Allen Bradley/Rockwell, and Mitsubishi platforms.
Program, test, and commission PLC and SCADA systems to meet customer specifications.
Collaborate with project teams to develop automation solutions tailored to client requirements.
Conduct on-site installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of control systems.
Develop and maintain technical documentation, including wiring diagrams, functional design specifications, and user manuals.
Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and safety regulations throughout project delivery.
Provide technical support and training to customers post-installation.
Essential Skills and Experience
Proficient in programming and commissioning PLCs, specifically Siemens (e.g., S7, TIA Portal), Allen Bradley/Rockwell (e.g., ControlLogix, Studio 5000), and Mitsubishi systems.
Experience in a systems integration environment, working across various industries such as manufacturing, automotive, logistics, or process control.
Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, ProfiNet, Modbus).
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Willingness to travel to client sites for commissioning and support activities.
Desirable Skills
Experience with SCADA systems and HMI development.
Familiarity with safety systems and standards (e.g., SIL, functional safety).
Knowledge of robotics, motion control, or IoT integration.
A degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical, Automation, or Control Engineering
