EMPLOYER
Eagle Investments Ltd is the Managing Agent for a family portfolio of companies owning commercial properties ranging from Redruth in Cornwall to Bridgwater in Somerset. Some of the companies within the portfolio also own and develop land, generally in East Devon, for residential use. Eagle’s office is based on The Strand in Exmouth. It is a small office with 1 working Director and 3 staff, one of whom is the Accounts Manager: the others being a Property Manager and a Secretarial Assistant.
Eagle Investments Ltd also employs two further staff, a Concierge and Building Support Assistant at a large multi-let property in Plymouth.
DUTIES
To manage and oversee the daily operations of the Accounts function for Eagle Investments Ltd and associated companies to include:
* Monthly, Quarterly and Year-End processes
* Bank reconciliations
* Updating Propman (property software package) with incoming receipts and outgoing payments
* Cash receipts/banking
* Process weekly BACs payments and monthly salary payments for staff in Exmouth and Plymouth
* Highlighting tenant arrears and assisting Property Manager with debt chasing/recovery through Arrears Letters
* VAT Returns
* Construction Industry Scheme returns
* Monitoring and analysing accounting data using Propman and Excel and producing financial reports or statements as required
* Establishing and enforcing property accounting methods, policies and principles in line with legal requirements
* Providing completed accounts to external Accountants for audit purposes and liaise with them throughout the year as necessary
* Maintaining all necessary financial files and records to document transactions for the required Statutory period
* Producing monthly/quarterly tenant demands
* Complete annual Service Charge reconciliations for multi-let properties
* Dealing with contracts for utility bills for properties with common parts
* Issuing annual insurance premiums to the September Quarter Day demands
REQUIREMENTS
* Previous experience of working as an Accounts Manager, Accounting Supervisor or Finance Manager
* Advanced computer skills on MS Office including Excel, Word and Outlook.
* Knowledge of Propman (or similar property management software) would be useful but not essential as training will be provided.
* Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations.
* High attention to detail and accuracy and ability to plan ahead/diarise key submission dates for VAT Returns etc.
* Ability to multi-task and be willing to assist with all aspects of the work carried out in the office and communicate effectively within a small team of staff
* Tact and discretion is essential as is a willingness to undertake any other tasks which may reasonably be requested in support of any of the family’s interests.

* Salary between £30,000 to £35,000, depending on qualifications and experience
