We are hiring for PDA Release Manager ( Not offering sponsorship ) Job Summary: Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Hardware Device Release Manager to oversee the entire lifecycle of hardware device releases, from initial conception to final deployment. This role is critical in ensuring the successful delivery of new devices and updates to our field workforce, particularly postmen utilizing devices like Zebra. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of hardware lifecycle management, project management, and strong technical acumen. Overall : Acts as focal point for all custom product requirements associated with our Tablets and Point of Sale products and solutions business unit, overall tracking & reporting on projects, budgets and priority negotiations. Drives multiple concurrent custom product releases and programs, leveraging diverse engineering Product teams, support the PDA team and OEM, for multiple locations Supports the definition, introduction, and overall release management of the Zebra hardware and/or software solution requests, including interfacing with internal Development teams, Operations team, and Business users. Leads system integration planning, release management, and planning for demonstrations, proof of concepts and pilots. Leads the creation of cross functional workstreams and drives execution for sales enablement, development and deployment. Scope include managing and overseeing a small cross-functional team whose activities include testing, certifying, and releasing “validated” 3rd party branded OEM solutions into our portfolio Key Responsibilities: Release Planning and Management: Develop and execute comprehensive release plans, including timelines, milestones, and dependencies. Coordinate with cross-functional teams (SW and HW engineering, operations, and field service) to align release schedules and resource allocation. Manage release risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies as needed for the device SW, HW releases. Device Configuration and Deployment: Oversee the configuration and provisioning of PDA devices to meet specific operational requirements. Manage the deployment of devices to field personnel, ensuring timely and efficient distribution. Coordinate with field service teams to provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance. Testing and Validation: Collaborate with quality assurance teams to define and execute rigorous testing procedures. Identify and resolve hardware and software defects, ensuring device reliability and performance. Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate device functionality and user experience. Inventory and Asset Management: Maintain accurate inventory records of devices, tracking their lifecycle from procurement to retirement. Implement effective asset management processes to optimize device utilization and minimize costs. Security and Compliance: Ensure adherence to security best practices and compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, data privacy). Implement security measures to protect devices and sensitive data. Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments. Vendor Management: Manage relationships with hardware vendors, negotiating contracts and resolving issues based on the customer’s need. Monitor vendor performance and identify opportunities for cost savings and improved service levels. Required Skills and Experience: .Eng in Electrical, Computer Science, or related technical BEng degree. Minimum 5 years of Engineering/Release management experience for products in fast paced environment required. Experience leading Highly evolving cross-functional teams required. Experience in hardware and/or software product development for consumer or enterprise products (such as cell phones, wearables, Tablets, laptops etc) required. Must have experience developing requirements and designing Engineering/Hardware requirements and design. Ability to translate customer requirements into product and solution requirements, scoping and planning required. Strong understanding of hardware lifecycle management, including procurement, deployment, and retirement. Proven experience in project management, with a focus on delivering projects on time and within budget. Excellent technical skills, including knowledge of device configuration, troubleshooting, and network connectivity. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve issues. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams. Experience with device management tools and systems. Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations. Desired Qualifications: Certification in project management (e.g., PMP) or ITIL. Experience with Zebra devices or similar handheld devices. Understanding of mobile device management (MDM) solutions.
