New Directions is currently seeking compassionate teaching assistants to support pupils with additional learning needs (ALN) in the Rhondda Cynon Taff, Pontypridd. We collaborate with various schools, including specialist institutions, those with dedicated ALN units, and mainstream settings requiring 1:1 support for ALN students. Whether you’re seeking part-time, long-term, or day-to-day roles, we have opportunities to suit your preferences.
As an ALN teaching assistant, you’ll play an important role in helping students with diverse needs reach their full potential. Working across primary and secondary settings, you’ll collaborate with fellow staff members to deliver tailored support to ALN students, including those facing emotional and behavioural challenges. You’ll also assist in classroom preparation for lessons and ensure all learning materials are readily accessible. Creating a nurturing environment where students feel motivated and empowered to succeed is key.
Requirements:
1. Minimum of three months’ experience working with children or young people in an educational setting.
2. Ideally, experience working with ALN pupils or a keen interest in starting.
3. Strong interpersonal skills to foster relationships with students and staff.
4. Eligibility to work in the UK.
5. Possession of a child DBS registered with the update service, or willingness to undergo a DBS check.
6. Registration with the Education Workforce Council.
