Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join our growing technology team in Manchester, UK. Working as part of our dynamic technology function, you will directly contribute to an award-winning digital platform that supports over 2000 entrepreneurial travel businesses.
You will play a critical role in supporting our engineering teams, implementing cloud best practices, and maintaining our on-premises infrastructure during the cloud migration process. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of a significant platform transformation and to make a substantial impact on our technology landscape.
Principal Accountabilities
Cloud Transformation
1. Collaborate with engineering teams to design, implement, and manage scalable and secure cloud infrastructure on AWS.
2. Develop and implement cloud best practices, including infrastructure as code (IaC), automated deployments, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
3. Assist in the architecture and design of cloud based applications and services.
4. Ensure compliance with security policies and governance frameworks for cloud environments.
On-Premises Maintenance and Support
5. Maintain and support existing on-premises infrastructure during the migration phase to ensure stability and performance.
6. Implement and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to proactively identify and resolve issues.
7. Optimize on-premises resources to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs.
8. Collaborate with IT operations to ensure seamless integration and coexistence of on-premises and cloud environments.
Engineering Support
9. Work closely with development and QA teams to provide DevOps support, including environment setup, configuration management, and deployment automation.
10. Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and application-related issues across development, staging, and production environments.
11. Promote a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing by conducting training sessions and workshops on DevOps tools and practices.
Key Skills Required
12. 3+ years in a similar role, demonstrating strong progression and an aptitude to learn and develop
13. Proven experience building scalable solutions and infrastructure with AWS
14. Strong experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform).
15. Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, tools and supporting agent infrastructure. Azure DevOps desirable.
16. Solid understanding and experience working with Linux and Windows estates
17. Experience of containerisation and orchestration technologies (Docker, Docker Swarm, Kubernetes, ECS).
18. Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
19. Experience with on-prem to cloud migration desirable
20. Experience with IIS hosting environments advantageous
