This is a fulltime, permanent post of 37 hours per week, with a shift pattern of Monday to Friday (8.30-16.30).

WestMARC Wheelchair and Special service at QEUH Campus is looking for a dynamic, highly motivated HCPC registered clinical scientist to join our bioengineering team The successful candidate will work as bioengineer within the wheelchair, special seating and environmental control service.
The Senior Bioengineer will practise both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team assessing patients, communicating with care givers and other stake holders. To prescribe and provide a range of equipment to enhance mobility, to support posture and manage pressure. These will include: buggies, manual wheelchairs, powered wheelchairs, complex power chair controls, modular and custom seating and environmental control devices.
The candidate will work consistently with NHS GG&C core values of: care and compassion, dignity and respect, openness, honesty and responsibility, quality and teamwork.
They will be responsible for ensuring that provision of equipment meets legislative requirements, appropriate scientific and technical standards and national guidelines. The bioengineer will manage an investigation and report adverse incidents, related to the use of Westmarc equipment, to the appropriate authorities.
WestMARC is a ISO 13845 registered organisation. The bioengineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining documentation to ensure compliance. The candidate will participate in internal audits as part of our quality management system.
Through collaboration with other healthcare clinical professionals they will be expected to develop and deliver a vision for the service that will be required to adapt to an ever changing healthcare environment; necessitating experience in service development, quality, financial awareness and managing projects.
We are looking for a candidate who will innovate and will motivate and inspire others both within bioengineering and the wider WestMARC team. They will act as a role model and provide a consistently high quality service, putting the patient at the core of everything they do.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.
